Having won the state title two weeks ago in Florence, the Turbeville Debs All-Star softball Team headed south Thursday to represent South Carolina in the Dixie Debs World Series in Alexandria, La.

 

The Clarendon County Ponytail All-Star 12-and-under softball team experienced the thrill of victory and the sour taste of defeat in back-to-back days.

 

Smiles, cheers and hugs of joy abounded on the Laurence Manning Academy softball team as they celebrated their 2011 State Championship Wednesday.

After falling behind 3-1, the East Clarendon Lady Wolverines’ softball team rallied for a 4-4 tie and forced an extra inning but couldn’t keep the pace and fell to the Lakeview Lady Gators 6-4 last Wednesday.

 

Three different East Clarendon softball players hit homeruns and the Lady Wolverines gained 12 hits en route to a 10-0 victory over the Green Sea-Floyds Lady Trojans.

 

Some Clarendon County softball and baseball teams have already begun their post-season play while others are still waiting for their time on the diamond.

 

In Clarendon County softball action last week, the Laurence Manning Academy Lady Swampcats took part in the Grand Strand Softball Classic tournament at Myrtle Beach going 1-4.

 

In other Clarendon county baseball action last week, the LMA Swampcats downed the Cardinal Newman Cardinals 12-2 in five innings on April 13. However, they fell 4-3 to the Florence Christian Eagles on April 14. Up next for the Swampcats is a game on April 26, scheduled to start at 7 p.m., when they travel to Wilson Hall.

 

Put another one in the win column for the East Clarendon Wolverines who cruised past the Scott’s Branch Eagles 13-2 last Tuesday claiming their eighth victory of the season.

 

In Clarendon County softball action last week, Mother Nature had her say several days in who got to play.

 

Four days after falling to the Laurence Manning Academy Lady Swampcats, East Clarendon took care of business in a rematch.

 

The Laurence Manning Academy Lady Swampcats’ 5-3 victory over the homesteading East Clarendon Lady Wolverines highlighted a week of Clarendon County softball and baseball.

 

Danielle Welch of East Clarendon High School has recently been selected to compete in the Queen of Diamonds Showcase South (QDSS) at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, Sept. 4-5.

The Dixie Darlings did not have the type of experience they were hoping for at the World Series.

Look out Texas, here comes Turbeville! Those words or some very similar are probably on the lips of the Turbeville Dixie Darlings softball team, coaches and proud parents as the newly crowned state champions prepare to visit the Lone Star state later this month.

As the Monarchs’ baseball team was having its way with the Kingstree Jaguars, the Lady Monarchs’ softball team was doing the same with the Lady Jaguars.

Walterboro– LMA’s softball squad flexed its collective muscle Friday evening as the Lady Cats demolished St. John’s Christian 14-2. The contest was a first round match-up in the Colleton Prep Tournament. Saturday night, the Cats tangled with Jefferson Davis Academy.
