There once was a day when drivers showed up at their local tracks just for the love of racing. Perhaps the goal was to earn the bragging rights of being the winner on that particular week or besting a rival driver. The prize money was secondary. It’s rare to find drivers like that today, but Manning’s own Paul Driggers fits the mold of the days of yore.
SUMTER -- A low car count combined with sweltering heat made for a slow night of racing at Sumter Speedway Saturday. With the exception of Bomber Four and Young Guns, the races involved three or less cars with one race flagged early as only one car was running at the finish.
