Laurence Manning Academy has hired Robert “Robbie” Briggs III to be the school’s athletic director and head varsity football coach starting in the fall of 2013. Briggs is currently serving as athletic director and head football coach at Manning High School, a position that he has held for the last 12 years.

 

East Clarendon Middle-High School Senior Joeshawn McElveen has signed to play football at Gray Military Academy, a post-grad Christian-military prep school in West Columbia.

 

Manning High School Senior Chris David Pack Jr. has signed to play football at Newport News Apprentice School. He will play defensive end/tight end at the school.

 

Hugh McFaddin, a senior and three-year starter on the offensive line at Manning High School has signed to play football with The Citadel.

 

Clarendon Hall seniors Jacob Corbett, Mason Miles, Tommy Green and Brandon Baxley played for the North in the SCISA North South 8-Man All-Stars Football Game on Dec. 1 in Orangeburg. Kevin Bennett and Taylor Avins served as alternates.

 

Manning High School Monarchs ended their season with a loss to the Myrtle Beach High School Seahawks on Nov. 2 in Myrtle Beach in the first round of the Class AAA South Carolina High School League football playoffs.

 

Scott’s Branch High School Eagles ended their season with a loss to the Cross High School Trojans on Nov. 2 in the South Carolina High School League’s Class A football playoffs.

 

The first round playoff matchup of the Wilson Hall Barons versus the Laurence Manning Academy Swampcats turned out to be a SCISA 3A thriller with the Barons winning 28-14. The Swampcats gave the Barons all the football they wanted and then some.

 

Manning High School Monarchs have reached the Class AAA South Carolina High School League football playoffs and will face the Myrtle Beach Seahawks at 7:30 tonight at Myrtle Beach. Manning finished the regular season with a 7-3 record while Myrtle Beach had a record of 9-1. Manning lost in the second round of the playoffs last year after defeating Edisto and losing to Dillon.

 

Clarendon Hall Saints defeated Andrew Jackson Confederates 36-8 in Summerton on Oct. 26. 

 

East Clarendon High School Wolverines lost to the Hemingway High School Tigers on Oct. 26 in ECHS’ homecoming game in Turbeville, 42-8.

 

Manning High School Monarchs lost to the Marlboro County High School Bulldogs, 28-14, on Oct. 26 in Manning.

 

Scott’s Branch High School Eagles lost to the C.E. Murray High School War Eagles on Oct. 26 in Summerton, 26-18.

 

In what Laurence Manning Academy (LMA) fans had hoped would be a Senior Night thriller they were instead handed a 42-7 loss by the Wilson Hall Barons.

 

East Clarendon High School Wolverines lost to the Carver’s Bay High School Bears on Oct. 19 in Hemingway, 46-8.

 

The Laurence Manning Academy Swampcats lost to the Porter Gaud Cyclones on Oct. 18 in Charleston, 35-14.

 

Manning High School Monarchs defeated Crestwood High School Knights on Oct. 19 in Sumter.

 

The Scott’s Branch High School Eagles lost to the Hemingway High School Tigers on Oct. 19 in SBHS’ homecoming game in Summerton, 28-0.

 

Homecoming became sweet for the Clarendon Hall Saints with a 54-36 win over the Faith Christian Knights.

 

The Saints scored on their first possession when sophomore running back Tilton McCrae took a handoff from senior quarterback Mason Miles and ran it in. The two-point conversion attempt failed and left the score at 6-0 Saints.

 

The Clarendon Hall Junior Varsity Football Saints lost a close one to the Patrick Henry Academy Patriots on Oct. 11 in Estill, 30-26.

 

The East Clarendon High School Wolverines defeated the C.E. Murray High School War Eagles on Oct. 13 in Greeleyville, 40-22.

 

The Laurence Manning Academy Swampcats defeated the Pinewood Preparatory School Panthers at LMA’s homecoming game on Oct. 12 in Manning.

 

The Clarendon Hall Saints defeated the Pee Dee Academy Eagles on Oct. 12 in Mullins, 28 to 14.

 

The Scott’s Branch High School Eagles lost to the Timmonsville High School Whirlwinds on Oct. 12 in Timmonsville, 60-8.
