Citizen Celebrations

Caroline Fishburne Rawlinson and Gary Curtis Lee Jr. were united in holy matrimony on October 27, 2012, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Pinewood. The bride was given in marriage by her father. The Very Reverend David William Tackaberry Thurlow performed the ceremony.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Dukes of Turbeville, are pleased to announce the birth of their son, Charles Perry Dukes, born Oct. 19, 2012, at 2:23 a.m. in Florence. Charles weighed 8 pounds 11 ounces and was 21.25 inches long.

 

The following Clarendon County students from the area have enrolled at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C. They are: Abbey Bochette, Jolissa Calvin and Courtney Greene, all of Manning.

 

The Clarendon Citizen’s outdoors writer, Terry Madewell, once again walked away with top honors in the South Carolina Outdoor Press Association’s Excellence in Craft contest.

The Virginia’s Pride Garden Club met on Oct. 9, in the Breedin Garden Room with 16 members and one guest present. Delicious cheesecake was served by our hostesses Dean Duke and Mary Fleming.

 

Alcolu native and community activist Carrie Sinkler-Parker will attend a White House Consumer Health Leaders Briefing in Washington, D.C. in October 2012. Sinkler-Parker was invited by the Obama administration to meet with fellow community leaders to discuss the health care reform law, the Affordable Care Act.
