Forty-four years after he took up Shotokan Karate, George Wilson, is passing on the art to his students in Manning, and is now a hall-of-famer.

 

Each year Laurence Manning Academy students participate in National History Day. There are many categories from which students may chose to compete, while all of them are to focus on an assigned theme for the given year. This year’s theme is Turning Points in History: People, Ideas, Events.

 

Clarendon County Procurement Director Tamika Malone was recently notified by the Universal Public Procurement Certification Council (UPPCC) that she has earned recognition from the UPPCC by receiving the Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) credential.

 

Carter Johnathan Elms of Manning, has been named to the President’s List at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina.

 

The monthly meeting of the Pink Dogwood Garden Club was held on Tuesday, March 12 at the St. Matthias Episcopal Church Fellowship Hall. There were 20 members present. Jeane Altman and Karen McEwen were welcomed as guests.

 

Mr. Gary Ridgeway and Mrs. Sharon Ridgeway both of Manning, announce the engagement of their daughter, Carmen Lee Ridgeway to Clifford Brooks Hogan Butler, son of Mrs. Margaret Posa and the late Mr. William Butler of Manning.

 

Marine Private Greg C. Smith of New Zion has graduated from Parris Island boot camp on March 1, 2013.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth John Spering of Manning are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Meghan Ann to Joshua Reagan Clark, son of Sadra Horsley and the late Jack R. Clark.
