Great Commission Ministries will be giving away gently worn clothing and other slightly used household items on Saturday May 12, 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at JC Britton Park.

 

Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Manning will present “Words of Wisdom” by two of the area’s most devout women, at 11 a.m., Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 13. Mothers Edith Reed and Clurttie Blanding will inspire the congregation with encouraging remarks and reflections on true Motherhood. Rev. Lucretia Pugh is the host pastor.

 

Manning First Assembly of God, located at 3576 Highway 260 in Manning, will give away a Vera Bradley purse (retail value, $68) on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 13, during their 11 a.m. worship service.

 

St. Luke Baptist Church, located in the Foreston community, will host a “Joy Nite” service at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 19, Minister Kenneth Murray will preach.  Rev. Sam H. Miller is the host pastor.

 

The St. Matthias Second Annual Ballet Recital, directed by Donna Prothro of The Dancer’s Workshop, will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, at the church at 9 N. Dukes St. in Summerton. Plan to attend this delightful program performed by young ladies ages five and six.

 

The Summerton United Methodist Women will host a big yard sale, 8 a.m.-noon, Saturday, May 12, at Summerton United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Hwy. 301/15 and Briggs Street. There will also be a plant and bake sale. The only clothing offered will be children’s items.

 

Taw Caw Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1130 Granby Lane in Summerton, their Mayfest from noon-5 p.m., Saturday, May 26. On Sunday, May 27, the church will host their Annual Family and Friends Day.

 

Greater St. Mark Church, located at 3197 Alderman Camp Rd. in Alcolu, will have their Spring Revival Wednesday, April 25, through Friday, April 27, beginning nightly at 7:30 p.m. Host pastor is Dr. Leroy Green. Guest speaker will be Bishop Jeffrey Johnson.

 

The Macedonia Fire Baptized Holiness Church, located in the Silver community of Manning, will hold their annual Spring Revival, with services held nightly at 7:30 p.m., April 30-May 4. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Eartha Carter of Prayer House Mission in the Davis Station community. Host pastor is the Rev. Ethel Sweat.

 

Pinewood Baptist Church will have Homecoming and Golden Age Sunday on May 6, beginning with Sunday School at 10 a.m. followed by the Morning Worship Service at 11 a.m. All seniors will be honored. Special music will be provided, and a covered dish lunch will follow the morning services. All are welcome, and a nursery will be provided. Pinewood Baptist is located on Highway 261 in Pinewood. The Master’s Place Ministry of Manning will celebrate eight years of ministry with special services at 7 p.m., Friday, April 20. The Master’s Place Ministry is located at 1510 Greeleyville Hwy. (the red building next to the Clarendon County Detention Center). Special guest speaker will be Bishop Stephen Williams of Winston-Salem, N.C.

 

Green Hill Missionary Baptist Church, located in Alcolu will hold their Spring Revivial at 7 p.m. nightly, April 11-13. The schedule is as follows: Wednesday, Men’s Night, Revivalist: Rev. W. J. Frierson, pastor of Lovely Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Holly Hill; Thursday, Youth Night, Revivalist: Rev Curtis Cantey, pastor of Aimwell Baptist Church, Pamplico; and Friday, Women’s Night, Revivalist: Minister Carolyn Vaughn, First Lady/Associate Minister of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, Manning.

 

Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1158 Driggers Lane, Manning, will celebrate Pastor Lucretia Pugh’s anniversary at 4 p.m., Sunday, April 15. The Rev. Jonathan Anderson of Fellowship Baptist Church, Manning, is the guest speaker.

 

Holly Hill Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1304 Hidden Branch Road in the Bloomville Community of Manning, will hold their Annual Four Gospels program at 5 p.m., April 15.
