Dragon Dreams! About 75 children at Harvin Clarendon County Library were taken back to the days of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table on June 13 in a performance by “Zelnik the Magician.”
The show was packed with comedy, audience participation, music and, of course, magic. Every year Greg Zeleznik also known as “Zelnik the Magician” chooses a theme for his shows that goes along with selected summer reading programs in local libraries. The Clarendon County Library’s summer reading program theme this year is “Dream Big – READ!”
The children are motivated and inspired to read and be an integral part of the summer reading program, Zeleznik said.
“Summer readers start checking out books that they would not have checked out otherwise and look for books that they did not even know existed,” he said.
HCCL Director Charlotte Johnston said that she was pleased with the turnout and hopes to attract as many children and parents to their next event.
Porkchop Productions’ presentation of “Chicken Little” will be held at 2 p.m. on July 16, at the Clarendon Community Complex behind Weldon Auditorium, 7 Maple Street in Manning. The event is for ages three and older.
