Retired Master Sgt. William Morgan Strickland Jr., 79, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, in Regency Hospital in Florence. Born Oct. 17, 1930, in Robbins, Tenn., he was a son of the late William Morgan Strickland Sr. and the late Ethel Mae West Strickland. He was of the Methodist faith, a retired Air Force veteran, a Mason and a Shriner, and retired from the mobile home business in Sumter and West Columbia.
He is survived by a daughter, Patty (William Hugh) Epps of Alcolu; two sisters, Betty (Glenn) Duncan of Oliver Springs, Tenn., and Elizabeth (Ken) McNelly of Rockwood, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Will (Kathryn) Epps, Nancy (Heyward) Moore, and McNeil (Megan) Epps; two great-grandchildren, Heyward Moore III and William Hugh Epps III; and a nephew, Mike Patterson of Norfolk, Va.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Strickland Patterson, and a nephew, Chuck Patterson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday in Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood, Tenn.
Stephens Funeral Home and Crematory, 304 N. Church St., Manning, is in charge of local arrangements.
