William Edgar “Billy” Baker Jr.

Mr. William Edgar “Billy” Baker Jr. died Monday, June 25, 2012. Born in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late William Edgar Baker and Ava Vermell McIntosh Baker. Mr. Baker was a retired farmer, Shriner, member of the Bullhead Hunting Club and New Zion United Methodist Church. His interests included hunting, fishing and racing.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Gertrude DuRant Baker of New Zion; two daughters, Mary Ava Baker of New Zion and Dianne Baker Uber (Berni) of Conway; a son, William Edgar Baker III (Gwyn) of New Zion; and a sister, Margaret Estelle Abel (Fred) of Jupiter, Fla. He had seven grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Jordan, Allison Knowlton, Trudy Baker, Alyssa Uber, Mary Jude Lambert, Stephen Lambert, and Amos Uber, as well as two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012, at New Zion United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 27, from 6-8 p.m. at Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta.
