Walter Carol McCants

Mr. Walter Carol McCants, 83, widower of Beulah Mims McCants, died Saturday Aug. 11, 2012, in Williamsburg Regional Hospital.

Mr. McCants was born July 6, 1929, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Walter Leslie and Kathleen Easler McCants. Carol served in the S.C. National Guard, was the former director of the Williamsburg County EMS and was a retired Captain with the Kingstree Fire Department. Mr. McCants was a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife and parents, Carol was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Surviving are: a son Walter Kenneth (Debra) McCants, of Kingstree;  a daughter Carolyn McCants (Mike) Powell, also of Kingstree; eight grandchildren, Brandon McCants, Tim Powell, Amy Sanders, Megan Freeman, and April McIver, all of Kingstree, Chip McCants, of Lake City, Misty Johnson, of Hartsville, and Amber McIver, of Ladson; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Floyd, Patricia Conyers, and Elease Radcliff, all of Manning; a special friend, Adell Gamble, of Kingstree; many nieces and nephews; and many dear friends and loved ones who were like family.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, in Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at Williamsburg Funeral Home.
