Viola Clark Pearson

Viola Clark Pearson, 102, widow of Levi Pearson Sr. died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, Manning. She’s the daughter of the late Joe and Susan Boyle Clark. She was born Jan. 1, 1910, in the White Oak section of Manning.

She received her education at the White Oak School.

At an early age she joined Triumph Church, and after marriage she moved her membership to Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church where she was a faithful member, and a member of the YWCA No. 10 and the Eastern Star. She’s received many awards.

Survivors are three sons, Levi (Evangelist Clementine) Pearson Jr. and James Pearson both of Manning; Joseph (Alfonza) Pearson of Newark, N.J.; seven daughters, Virginia Lemon, Daisy Lewis, Mary Pearson, Ola Slappy and Vinell (John) Nelms all of Manning; Elouise Wineglass of Hillside, N.J.; Carrie Jones of Newark, N.J.; two sisters, Hattie Jenkins and Pauline Walker; 45 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, 38 great-great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-great-great-grandchildren.

Wake service will be held from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at Hayes F. & LaNelle J. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 North Church Street, Manning.

Remains will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. with services at noon Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at Historic Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, 6547 MW Rickenbaker Road, Summerton.

The family is receiving friends at the home, 1853 L & H Pearson Road, Manning.
