The Turbeville Dixie Major All Star 12 and under baseball team and the Clarendon Dixie Major All Star team played a one-game, winner-take-all game at 7 p.m. July 11 in Holly Hill to determine who would represent District 9 in the state championship.
Turbeville’s team came away victorious defeating Clarendon County, 15-3.
The head coach for the Turbeville Dixie Major team is Kael Morris. The Clarendon team is lead by Head Coach Spencer Jordan.
Joseph Coker picked up the win for Turbeville with five innings on the mound. He also had two hits on the night. Morgan Morris, Grayson Gamble and Andrew Boyd had hits for Turbeville in the win.
Morgan Morris was named the tournament Most Valuable Player for his performance throughout the tournament.
Clarendon County was lead at the plate by Robert Dykes, Dalton Page, Tripp Prosser, Taylor Lee and Jake Jordan, who all had one hit.
Jordan took the loss for Clarendon County, pitching just two innings. Brewer Brunson, Wyatt Rowland and Prosser all provided late inning relief.
Jordan was awarded the Most Tournament Home Run trophy for hitting two home runs during the tournament.
Turbeville will move on to represent District 9 in the state championship for the second straight year. The state championship will be played in late July in Florence.
