Thomas Earl Cochran

Thomas Earl Cochran, 69, widower of Maybell Gadson Cochran died Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at Down State Hospital, Brooklyn, N.Y. He’s the son of the late Willie and Edith Ragin Cochran. He was born June 4, 1942, in the Live Oak section of Clarendon County.

He received his formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County.

He was preceded in death by three sons and three grandchildren.

Survivors are four daughters, Rosa G. Cubbage of Watkinsville, Ga.; Laverne (Timothy) Gadson, Lynda (Wallace) Gadson and Thomascena (Efren) Lee of Sumter; two sons, Thomas E. (Wanda) Cochran Jr. and Gleen (Debra) Cochrane both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four brothers, Ira David (Myrna) Cochran of Charlotte, N.C.; Ronald (Beverly) Cochran of Greenville; Donald (Elvia) Cochran of Lawton, Okla.; Emanuael Cochran of Manning; four sisters, Raye Honore of Alcolu; Edith (Ronald) Clemmons of McCordsville, Ind.; Joyve (Ephrem) Conyers of Manning; and Judith (Jesse) Horne of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Vernell Witherspoon and Effie Burgess; three brothers-in-law, James (Bert) Plowden, Leo Plowden, and Charles (Beverly) Plowden, two daughters-in-law Leslie Whitney Cochran-Brown, and Matuita Cochran. 21 grandchildren.

 

Services will be held Wednesday, Feb., 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Hayes F. & LaNelle J. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 North Church Street, Manning.

The family is receiving friends at the home of his granddaughter and her husband, Stephanie and Jonathan Williams, 1756 Fawnridge Road, Manning.
