Nineteen head basketball coaches were inducted into the S.C. Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame March 20, at an event held in North Myrtle Beach. Among those chosen was Manning High’s John F. Thames, who earlier this year recorded his 800th victory as head coach of the Lady Monarchs.
Thames and the other 18 inductees were on hand to witness the SCASA girls and boys ball games which took place beginning at 11:30 Saturday morning. At halftime of the boys’ game, all 19 coaches were officially entered into the Hall of Fame with each head mentor being presented with a plaque commemorating the accomplishment.

I adore this old man a lot! I have seen posts and news of him and his winnings with Lady Monarchs and men! does he look really humble and down to earth. I believe for the record, he and his coached team won up to 828 wins of December 2011. Being the so called "winningest active coach in South Carolina history" he without a doubt deserves much more than a Hall of Fame honor. His undefeated coaching prowess definitely made a mark not only in history but in the lives of those he trained along the way.
