The Turbeville Dixie Minors 10 and under baseball team won their first game in the District 9 Championship tournament on June 29, in Providence against Clarendon County, 12-0.

The Minors lost a close game the following day against St. George, 6-4.

Turbeville was 4-2 on the regular season.

Head Coach Scott McFaddin said that his team is young but looked good in the season with three returning players from last year. 

“The defense and pitching play is doing good for us,” said McFaddin.

There are six other teams in the District 9 double-elimination championship: Lake Marion, St. George, Clarendon County, Holly Hill, Sumter American East and Sumter National West.

Turbeville’s third game was on July 1.
