The Eagles lost a heartbreaker to the Whirlwinds on Jan. 10, at home, 65-54.
Scott’s Branch was down by one at half and lead by one at the end of the third quarter, but Timmonsville came back strong in the fourth quarter outscoring the Eagles by 26-14 to take the win.
Shakei Green led all Eagle scorers with 13 points, two rebounds and two blocked shots. Traviant Riley had 12 points with six rebounds and one assist. Devin Brailsford had nine points, two rebounds and one steal. Bernard McDaniel contributed three points with four rebounds and three steals. Robert Felder had another strong showing on the boards. Felder scored three points and pulled down eight rebounds, blocked three shots and had one steal. Sam Murry scored six points with five rebounds. TyQuan Kennedy scored eight points with four rebounds and two steals. Trashawn Jones pulled down two rebounds.
The loss dropped the Eagles to 5-5 on the season.
East Clarendon-77/Scott’s Branch-63
Scott’s Branch dropped another heartbreaker losing to East Clarendon on Jan. 13, in Turbeville, 77-63.
In back-to-back games, sluggish play in the fourth quarter has ruined the Eagles’ chances to win.
Down by six at the half, the Eagles pulled to within one at the beginning of the fourth quarter before the Wolverines put the game away in the fourth outscoring the Eagles, 33-18.
Scott’s Branch had three scorers in double figures. Devin Brailsford led all Eagle scorers with 16 points, one blocked shot, one steal and one assist. Robert Felder continued his strong play on the boards with 14 points, eight rebounds, six blocked shots and one assist. Traviant Riley scored seven points with four rebounds, one steal and one assist. Bernard McDaniel scored seven points with three rebounds and one blocked shot. Sam Murry and TyQuan Kennedy rounded out the scoring with three points each.
The loss dropped the Eagles to 6-5 on the season.
Calhoun County-45/Scott’s Branch-32
A slow start and end to the Eagles’ Jan. 14, game at home against the Saints resulted in the Eagles’ third loss of the week, 45-32.
The Saints outscored the Eagles 15-6 in the first quarter and 15-11 in the fourth quarter distancing themselves from the Eagles for a 13-point win.
Both teams scored 12 points in the second quarter with a dismal showing by both teams in the third quarter scoring just three points each.
Trashawn Jones is credited with half of the Eagles’ 32 points. Jones scored 16 points to lead all Eagle scorers. Jones also had one rebound and one steal. Devin Brailsford scored six points with one rebound, five steals and five assists. Bernard McDaniel scored two points with three rebounds and one steal. Robert Felder had six points with seven rebounds, five blocked shots and one assist. Sam Murry scored two points with one blocked shot, one steal and one assist. TyQuan Kennedy had one rebound, one blocked shot and one assist.
Scott’s Branch finished the week at 5-7 on the season, 0-2 in conference play.
