Scott’s Branch High School Eagles defeated Hannah-Pamplico 6-0 on Friday, Oct. 21, in Pamplico, giving the Eagles a shot at making the playoffs, with one game remaining in the regular season.
Neither team managed to score in Scott’s Branch win over Hannah-Pamplico, until Leon Mathis scored for the Eagles with 11:34 left in the fourth quarter.
Scott’s Branch had 169-yards total. Mathis had almost all the rushing yards for the Eagles with 52 carries. Quinton Banks carried one time for one yard.
Samuel Murray threw five times for five incomplete passes and one interception.
Top defensive players of the game were Tashawn Taylor with seven tackles and one assist, Tre’shawn Jones with five tackles and Robert Felder with four tackles. B.J. McDaniel, Charlie Wright and Keavon Jones each had three.
Head Coach Leonard Johnson didn’t have much to say after the game.
“We played four quarters,” he said. “We don’t care how we win this season, as long as we come out on top.”
Scott’s Branch record is now 2-7, with their only other win being against Burke High School.
Johnson said that his team still has a chance to make the playoffs, if they win next week against C.E. Murray, in Greeleyville, on Friday, Oct. 28.
C.E. Murray is 1-8 this season.
