Sara Louise Tisdale

Mrs. Sara Louise Tisdale, 88, widow of John Lawrence Tisdale, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, in the Kingstree Nursing Facility.

Mrs. Tisdale was born Sept. 13, 1924, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of Sarah Hannah Byrdic Tisdale and John James Tisdale. She attended Williamsburg County schools and was a homemaker. Mrs. Tisdale was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where she enjoyed working with her fellow members. She also loved cooking and hosting family and friends in her home for visits.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Tisdale was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence Belton Tisdale; three sisters, Almeter Harley, Annette Tisdale, and Norma Gibbons; two brothers, Earl Tisdale and Lorin Tisdale; and a granddaughter, Tabitha Tisdale.

Surviving are two sons, Gerald (Francis) Tisdale of Kingstree and Reynolds (Kay) Tisdale of Nesmith; grandchildren, Sandra Tisdale McClary of Nesmith, and Shane Tisdale of Lake City; step-grandchildren, Tom (Kathy) Antwine of Lake Ridge, Va. and Beth (Chuck) Atkinson of Beaufort; great-grandchild, Kandice McClary of Nesmith; step-great-grandchildren, Thomas and Haley Antwine and Quinton Langley of Lake Ridge, Va., and Chase, Jack, and Lauren Atkinson of Beaufort; brothers, Hilton (Carrie) Tisdale of Manning, Carl (Adelle) Tisdale and Byrdic (Linda) Tisdale of Kingstree, one brother-in-law, Mac Harley of Summerville; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, in Cedar Grove Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
