Clarendon Hall remains undefeated after a 60-6 showing in Beaufort. The weather was cold but the Saints offense was as hot as ever racking up 471 yards of offense. But the Saints defense again was the key to the game stopping the Eagles in the red zone three times.
Defensively the leading tackler was Cameron Cogdill with 13 followed closely by Hunter Hodges with 12. Cogdill also had an interception.
Offensively, Waymon Hall was the leading rusher with just shy of 200 yards and three touchdowns. Other touchdowns on the ground came from Justice Beach, quarterback Hunter Hodges and Cameron Cogdill. Hodges was 2-2 passing with both receptions resulting in touchdowns. The first completion was in the Saints first possession; a 90-yard perfectly thrown bomb to Jacob Corbett who easily outran his defender to score. The second pass was just as the second quarter of play began. Hodges threw a 38-yard pass to Mason Miles for a touchdown.
Most of the offensive action came in the first half. After trailing 54-6 the Eagles requested a running clock in the second half. Hall scored once more early in the second half.
The game was very physical and Coach Casey Connors was proud of the way his team handled themselves. They have one more big contest next week at home against Patrick Henry Academy. "I can't look past each opponent,” Connors said. “Anything can happen at any time.”
When asked about possible playoff match ups or who challengers for the championship might be Connors is quick to remind everyone that nothing can be taken for granted. "I don't ever start thinking ahead for the next week until Sarturday morning." Connors said. Connors is quick to praise his team but also very quick to keep them in check and humble. Clarendon Hall will celebrate senior night at their final game of the season at home on Friday, Oct. 28, against Patrick Henry. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
