Ruby G. Dew, age 82, beloved wife of Jessie Joe Dew, died on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at home with her family.
Born in West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Arlie Vandevander and Hazel Ervin Vandevander. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and fellowshipping at her church. She loved spending time with her family and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving in addition to her husband Jessie Joe Dew are: one son, Clark Allen Mullenax and his wife Pamela of Sumter; one step-son, Joe Dew of Summerton; three daughters, Pam Mullenax Detrick-Howell, Deborah Sweeney and Victoria Sweeney Rodriguez, all of Sumter; one step-daughter, Patricia Dew Chason and her husband Ralph of Cairo, Ga.; one sister, Monna Belle Puffenbarger, three sister-in-laws, Patricia Vandevander, Annie Margaret Vandevander and Judy Vandevander; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a special caregiver Pat Clemmons.
She is preceded in death by, two daughters, Rhonda Mullenax Getson and Gale Sweeney Mazlik, one grandson, Jason R. Detrick; four brothers, Steryl Vandevander, Ivan Vandevander, Frank Vandevander and Paul Vandevander and one sister, Ernestine Grogg Nicholas.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. G. W. Harrell and Rev. Arthur Sharp officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be: Jacob Getson III, Justin Mazlik, Kyle Mazlik, Shayne Mazlik, Clark Mullenax Jr. and Rick Perkins.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Nolan Rodriguez, Ryan Rodriguez, Tiffany Jackson, Katlin Richburg, Lindsey Hall and Stephanie Detrick – Kirby.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at Bullock Funeral Home and at other times at the home of daughter Pam.
