Ruby Dean Lumpkin died Monday, April 26, 2010, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born March 9, 1968, in Miami, Fla., she was a daughter of the late Charles William and Lena King Lumpkin-Monlyn and stepdaughter of Sylvester Monlyn. In her youth, she joined Holy Mission in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Later, she moved to Pompano Beach, Fla., and joined Faith Temple. After moving to Manning, she attended William Chapel Christian Church. Ruby was a lover of art, drawing, painting and drumming.
Survivors are a daughter, Ashley Murphy of Manning; a son, Jeremiah Brian of Manning; stepfather, Sylvester Monlyn of Miami; three brothers, Isaiah Lumpkin of Fort Lauderdale, Samuel A. (Debbie) Burgess of Maryland and Brian Rhodes of Dania, Fla.; three sisters, Sylena Mayes, Sheila Rhodes and Lurmyce Spillman, all of Dania; and devoted uncle and aunt, Charles and Ernestine King of Manning.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at William Chapel Christian Church in Manning, with the Rev. Emanuel Evans, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Revs. Curtis Cantey and David Woods.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
