East Clarendon High School Senior Nate Rowland signed May 3, to play basketball with the Port City Sports Academy in North Charleston.
Rowland is a point guard who’s played on the varsity team since the eighth grade, and has scored more than 1,000 points in his career. He averaged 18 points per game in the 2012 season.
Justin Waiters, East Clarendon head coach, said that Rowland is a dedicated young man who poses great leadership skills.
“He sets a great tempo, and has great off-court qualities as well,” Waiters said. “He has an ability to motivate anyone around him and keep the game going no matter how tough it gets.”
Port City Sports Academy is a two-year preparatory school in which student-athletes compete in a sport while taking college credit courses.
Rowland is the son of Henry and Loretta Rowland.
