Reverend David H. Best, 57, passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at the Carrol S. Robeson Hospice center with his loving family surrounding him. David Best was the associate pastor at First Baptist Church in Fayetteville, N.C. He also served churches in Belmont, Charlotte, Kernersville, and Thomasville. Reverend Best graduated from Gardner-Webb with a Bachelors of Art and then graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theologian Seminary with a Masters Degree. During his off time, David enjoyed fishing and coin collecting.
Reverend Best is survived by his wife, Jane B. Best of the home; son, J.D. Best of Niwot, Colo.; daughter, Rachel Best of Charlotte, N.C.; parents, Herman and Margaret Best of Shelby, N.C.; mother-in-law, Carolyn Brogdon of Sumter and sister, Jane Ann Best of Morganton, N.C.
A funeral service for Reverend Best will be held on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Fayetteville, N.C. with the Reverend A. Edward Beddingfield and the Reverend David Canady officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at 2 p.m. in Manning Cemetery in Manning.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 201 Anderson Street, Fayetteville, N.C. 28301, and/or Operation Inasmuch, 531 Hillsboro Street, Fayetteville, N.C. 28301.
