Rebecca Simon James, 86, widow of Edward James, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, in Manning. She was born Aug. 10, 1925, in Greeleyville. She’s the daughter of the late Amos Simon and Leila Reid Simon.
She received her formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County. At an early age, she joined Pine Grove A.M.E. Church where she served faithfully for many years.
“Boot”, as her family and friends affectionately called her, was quiet and soft spoken with a sweet and loving spirit.
Loved ones who will cherish her memories included her three sisters, Magnolia Henry and Gertrude Conyers of Greeleyville, and Willa Mae Spry of Sumter; her brother, Willie Simon of Manning; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, Pine Grove A.M.E. Church, Kenwood Rd., Greeleyville.
Rev. Ronnie Brown Pastor, officiating. Rev. Moses Wilson, Rev. Eloise Pompey and Rev. Shirley Waiters, assisting.
Burial will follow in the Church yard Cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the home of her nephew and niece, Willie and Leila H. Pompey, 11758 Bloomville Rd., Manning.
