Apostle Ocelia Lemon Blue, 81, widow of Elder Willie C. Blue, died Thursday, March 18, 2010, at her residence in Davis Station.
Born May 9, 1928, in Summerton, she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Carrie Rose Bennett Lemon. She received her formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County. In 1978, Pastor Blue returned to South Carolina and started her ministry in Davis Station.
Survivors are nine children, Eugene (Tara) Lemon of Buffalo, N.Y., Evangelist Millie (Deacon Jimmy) Jackson, Pastor Patricia Levy and Elder Clovette (Deacon William) Danzy, all of Miami, Fla., Neomia Bozier, Pastor Carrie (Leon) Sams, Evangelist Gardenia (Deacon Barry) Johnson and George Jones, all of Baltimore, Md., and Daniel (Sharon) Jones of Queens, N.Y.; adopted daughter, Pieretta Doughty; sister, Carrie Lemon; brother, James (Clara) Lemon; aunt, Hattie Mae Jerow; 25 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Mount Zero Missionary Baptist Church in Manning, with the Rev. Henry Presley, pastor, Apostle Dr. Mary Scott-Nelson, eulogist, Pastor O’Violet Oree, presiding, assisting Elder James Nelson, Bishop Ronald Shelly and Dr. Lillie Gadson.
Burial was in the House of God Miracle Temple cemetery, Davis Station.
Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
