Muriel K. Hanna

MURRELLS INLET – Retired Maj. Muriel Keith Hanna, 70, died Sunday, March 14, 2010, at the VA Hospital in Charleston, after an illness.

He was born in Florence County, a son of the late Murdock and Ida Ginelle Gaskins Hanna. He received his doctorate degree from the University of Northern Colorado. Mr. Hanna was retired from the U.S. Army, where he was a clinical psychologist.

Formerly of Summerton, he was a member of St. Mathias Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his wife, Gail Grainger Hanna of Murrells Inlet; a daughter, Autumn (Anthony) Wharmby of Manchester, England; a son, M. Keith Hanna, M.D., of Atlanta; and three brothers, Dewey Hanna of Florence, David Hanna of Summerton and Ivan Hanna of Spartanburg.

He was predeceased by a brother, Ron Hanna.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Florence.

Burial with full military honors followed in the Florence National Cemetery.
