School might not be in session, but it’s time for student athletes to begin preparing to compete in sports during the upcoming school year.
Athletic physicals will be given at 1 p.m. on July 10, 17 and 31 at Manning High School, according to MHS Coach Kay Young. The cost is $20.
“Please make arrangements to attend one of these sessions if you plan to participate in any athletic program at Manning High or Manning Junior High,” Young said. “If you have any questions, contact your coach.”
Young said conditioning for Lady Monarch basketball and tennis will be held from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning July 10. If any questions regarding these sports, call Young at 460-4750 or 435-4417.
The Lady Monarch Tennis team will kick off its season with practice from 5-7 p.m. beginning Aug. 6.
“You must have a physical for the current year to practice,” Young added. “The team will practice Mondays through Thursdays.”
Young said practice was mandatory for all varsity tennis players unless excused by her.
Another fee that will be implemented for the 2012-2013 school year is a $30 athletic participation fee for athletes in all sports except cheerleading. The Clarendon School District 2 Board of Trustees approved the $30 fee at its June meeting.
Any questions about physicals, practices or fees should be directed to coaches, Young added.
