
Mattie Leola Brown McFadden, 79, Widow of Robert David McFadden Jr., died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, Manning. She was born May 11, 1933, in New Zion, a daughter of the late Robert Brown and Katie McFadden Brown.
She received her formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County.
She was a member of Howard Chapel A.M.E. Church, where she served as a Stewardess president, a member of the Usher Board, Gospel Choir, Pastor’s Aide president, Home Reform Lodge No. 18 and Assistant Secretary of the Sunday Down South Association.
Survivors are four daughters, Leola (Eugene) Kennedy, Cynthia Ceasar, Mary L. (Donnie) Curtis and Barbara A. McFadden; five sons, Alvin Brown, Johnny B. McFadden, Ronald McFadden, Horace (Rev. Johnnie Mae) McFadden and Willie (Joann) Player; three sisters, Lue Ever McFadden, Ruth McFadden and Marian McFadden; two brothers, Donald McKenzie and Ivory (Lavola) Brown; 28 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.
Remains will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. with services beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2011, at Howard Chapel A.M.E. Church, New Zion.
Burial will follow in Old McFadden Cemetery, Turbeville.
