Mary Julia Brewer

Mary Julia “Judy” Brewer, 70, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

Born June 25, 1940, in Manning, she was the daughter of the late John Beniard and Eula Baggette Brewer. She was a retired family court stenographer, having worked for Judge James M. “Mac” Morris, Judge Wright Turbeville and Judge Sep Belser. She was a member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and served as church pianist.

She is survived by a brother, John B. (Pauline) Brewer of Manning; four sisters, Doris B. Haberkorn of Manning, Kathleen Wise of Sumter, Ruby (Milton) Styron of Davis, N.C. and Ann Morris of Manning; a sister-in-law, Marguerite Brewer of Rocky Mount, N.C.; 13 nieces and nephews; 25 great-nieces and great-nephews; and nine great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Heyward Brewer; and two brothers-in-law, Casper Haberkorn and Cecil Wise.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 31, 2010, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning, with the Rev. David Carlson officiating, assisted by Rev. Wright Turbeville.  

Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at Stephens Funeral Home, and at other times at the residence.
