Mary Hilton

Mary Felder Hilton, 86, widow of Ferdinand Hilton, died Thursday, April 1, 2010, at National Healthcare in Sumter. She was the daughter of the late Joe Felder and Eliza Mack Felder. She was born Jan. 15, 1924, in Manning.

In her youth, she joined Mount Chapel Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Manning Training School. After graduation, she moved to San Diego and completed her education. She was a nurse for 35 years. After retiring, she moved back to South Carolina.

Survivors are one son, Gregory Felder of San Diego; two brothers, Columbus Felder of Philadelphia and Willie Felder of Sumter; three sisters, Costella Pack and Alice (Henry) Holmes, both of Sumter, and Hanna Wilma Lee Scott of Charlotte; and an aunt, Leola McDuffie of Manning.

Funeral services were held on Friday, April 9, 2010, at Mount Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Manning, with the Rev. Carnell Witherspoon, pastor, officiating; the Rev. Dr. L.W. Walker, presiding; and the Rev. Willie A. Wright, assisting.

Burial was in Hillside Memorial Park in Sumter.

Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
