Mary Fordham, 96, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at National Healthcare Center, Sumter. She was born Sept. 14, 1915, in Panola, a daughter of the late Johnny Fordham and Elizabeth McDuffie Forham.
She was preceded in death by one son Zachary Strong; and two brothers Charlie Fordham and James McDuffie.
She received her formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County.
At an early age, she accepted Christ and became a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant UME Church, Panola.
She was employed with Helsbro Watch Company in Harlem, N.Y.
Survivors are one sister Lucinca (Jippy) Holiday; four grandchildren Zelda Strong-Diaz, Tasia Strong, Zachary D. Strong and Bobby Parson, six great-grandchildren.
Remains will be placed in the church at 3 p.m. with services beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012, Mt Pleasant U.M.E. Church, Panola.
Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery
