Marie Thomasine Graham Harvin, 96, widow of Charles Alexander Harvin Jr., died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at her home in Summerton.
Born Jan. 9, 1916, in McClellanville, she was the daughter of the late John Hugh Graham and the late Marie Mitchell Graham. She was a Columbia College Alumni and a member of Summerton Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Thomasine Rogas of Santa Monica, Calif.; three grandchildren, Mary Franklin Harvin of Columbia, Harvin Rogas of Santa Monica, Calif., and Charlotte Carter of Studio City, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Tyler Carter and Kacie Carter, both of Studio City, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews who were a very important part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her son, the late Representative C. Alex Harvin III; a sister; and two brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Summerton Presbyterian Church with Rev. Garland Hart and Rev. James O. Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Summerton Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John H. Graham III, Michael H. Graham, Benjamin A. Graham, Thomas W. Graham, Percy B. Harvin, Allston B. Leland, Robert Moise and Robert B. McDuffie Jr.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 11 McClary St., Summerton.
