Manning-Santee Post 68 wins 7-3 over Camden

A complete game by Zan Beasley along with an array of hits and runs propelled the Manning-Santee Post 68 American Legion baseball team to a 7-3 victory over Camden Tuesday night.

The win improves Manning-Santee’s record to 10-8 and makes them just two games behind Camden.

They still sit at third place behind Camden and first-place Sumter.

Beasley threw a complete game with three walks, four hits, six strikeouts and one earned run.

“He did good tonight,” said head Coach G.G. Cutter.

Manning took a lead early in the game and was in control the entire way.

They led 1-0 in the first, got three more runs in the third, one in the fifth, one in the eighth and one in the ninth to secure the win.

They had 11 hits on the night and Heath Smith was the leading batter.

He went three-for-four with two doubles, a single and an RBI.

Mike Keels also had a good night at the plate as he went two-for-four.

“We played good defense,” said Cuter. “We caught fly balls and played better than we did Monday.”

Manning-Santee will play their final regular season home game next Thursday evening at Monarch Field when they host Hartsville at 7:30 p.m.
