Manning-Santee - 10/Darlington - 6
Manning-Santee came from behind on June 18, to defeat host Darlington, 10-6.
“We were down 6-2 going into the eighth inning,” said Post 68 Head Coach G.G. Cutter. “We didn’t give up and battled back.”
Manning had seven hits on the night but also gave up four errors.
“I give it to the players. They don’t give up,” Cutter said. “Those four errors hurt, but we battled back and won.”
Greg King was 2 for 5 with two RBI homeruns. Corey Brown went 2 for 4 with a solo homerun.
Sumter - 6/Manning-Santee - 0
Manning-Santee didn’t fare well against Sumter in the third meeting between the two teams this season. Post 68 was shut out by the P-15s on June 21, in Sumter, 6-0.
Sumter picked up a couple of runs early in the game but sealed their win with three runs in the sixth.
Nick Gibbons took the loss for Post 68.
“We couldn’t get a hit with men in scoring position,” said Coach Cutter. “Sumter’s Andrew Reardon did a good job. Sumter used several relievers in the game and ended up striking out 11 of our players.”
Cutter said he has to hand it to his players,” They never give up. Games like this, all I tell them is to put it behind them and move on to the next game.”
M-S finished the week at 7-5 on the season and in league play. Sumter leads League III with Manning-Santee in second place.
M-S is on the road early in the week against Darlington on June 25 and Hartsville on June 26. Post 68 is at home against the P-15s on June 28, and at home against Post 53 in Hartsville on June 2. Both home games start at 7:30 p.m.
