Lady Monarchs 1-1 for the week

Lady Monarchs - 48/Lady Yellowjackets - 29

Manning’s Lady Monarchs won big over Andrew’s Lady Yellowjackets on Feb. 6 in Andrews, 48-29.

Alexia Abraham led all Lady Monarch scorers with 13 points, six rebounds and five steals. Lanisha Brown scored nine points and had a huge night on the boards, pulling down 13 rebounds. Shanequa Muldrow scored eight points with two rebounds and four steals. Breanna Nelson had five points, four rebounds and five steals, while Petra York also dropped in five points with four rebounds and three steals. Imani Bell added four points. Jakia Hilton scored two points and Karen White finished with two points and eight rebounds.

The win pushed the Lady Monarchs record to 18-7 on the season and 5-2 in region play.

Lady Jaguars - 63/Lady Monarchs - 58

Manning’s Lady Monarchs dropped a close game to Kingstree’s Lady Jaguars on Feb. 8 at home, 63-58.

Two Manning players had double-doubles while five players scored in double figures.

The leading scorer for the Lady Monarchs was Lanisha Brown with 15 points and five rebounds. Breanna Nelson had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, four steals, three assists and two blocked shots. Karen White added 11 points with five rebounds and one steal. Petra York also had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds and two steals. Alexia Abraham dropped in eight points with 10 rebounds, six steals and one assist. Shanequa Muldrow rounded out the scoring with one point, two rebounds, two steals and two assists.

The Lady Monarchs finished the season with a record of 18-8, 5-3 in the region.

Manning finished in second place in the region.

The Lady Monarchs hosted Dillon on Feb. 14 in their first tournament action of the season.

Monarchs lose close game to Andrews

The Monarchs lost a close game to Andrews on Feb. 6 in Andrews, 53-49.

Two Manning players scored in double figures.

Dontravious Witherspoon was the leading scorer for Manning with 12 points. Phillip Henry added 10 points. Breshaun Pendergrass scored seven points, Jire’ Brunson dropped in eight points. Jamal Keels scored six points. Ro’Char Witherspoon scored four points and Jerrell Frierson finished with two points.

Manning finished the season in fourth place in the region.

The Monarchs will travel to Marion for a tournament game against the number one seed in the region Marion at 7 p.m. on Feb. 15.
