Laurence Manning’s Swampcats played sound baseball in a rout over Cardinal Newman’s Cardinals at home March 15, 14-3.
Justin Powell picked up the win for the Swampcats. Powell went two innings, facing 11 batters. He struck out three with one walk. Linc Powell went one inning and faced four batters. He struck out two and allowed one hit. Blake Winans went one inning, faced six batters and allowed two walks, striking out two, giving up one hit, one earned run and one run. Russell Thompson pitched one inning, faced three batters, striking out two.
Almost every player on the Swampcat team got in on the scoring action.
Jack Martin went 2 for 2. He scored three times and had one RBI. Ethan Forbes was 1 for 2. He scored once and had two RBIs. Corey Brown was 1 for 2 with two RBIs and one run scored. Linc Powell was 1 for 3 with one RBI and one run scored. Winans went 1 for 3 and scored once. Kendall Pack had one RBI. John Thomas Eppley went 2 for 2 with two RBIs and scored four times. Chase Lowder went 1 for 2 with a double and scored once. Thomas Walker was 1 for 1 with 1 RBI. Mark Pipkin was credited with one at-bat in three plate appearances.
LMA’s game against Orangeburg Prep on March 16 was rained out. No makeup date has been set.
LMA faced off against Robert E. Lee at home on March 20. The Swampcats will head to Summerville to face Pinewood Prep on March 21. The ‘Cats will be at home against Heathwood Hall on March 23.
