Laurence Manning Academy Swampcats basketball round-up for 2/14/12

Sam Levy/Clarendon Citizen - LMA Girls “B” team finished the season at 5-5.

Lady S’cats “B” team - 24/Lady Cavs “B” team - 5

Laurence Manning’s girls “B” team finished the season with a win against Robert E. Lee’s girls “B” team on Feb. 8, 24-5.

The Lady ‘Cats held the Lady Cavaliers scoreless in the first and third quarters.

LMA finished the first quarter up 7-0 and never looked back. They led REL 15-2 at the half and 22-2 at the end of the third quarter.

Courtney Beatson led Lady Swampcat scorers with eight points. Olivia Wilson finished with six points. Cora Lee Downer dropped in four points and Hannah Graham, Taylor Korsey and Julia Morris rounded out the game with two points each.

The win improved the Lady Swampcats to 5-5 to end the season.

Swampcats “B” team - 52/Cavaliers “B” team - 18

Laurence Manning’s boys “B” team dominated the Cavaliers’ boys “B” team on Feb. 8, 52-18.

The Swampcats came out of the locker room to begin the game hot with 13 points in the first quarter and 10 points in the second quarter while holding the Cavaliers scoreless in the first half.

In the second half, the ‘Cats continued their dominance with eight points in the third quarter and finishing with 21 points in the fourth quarter and held the Cavaliers to just 18 points in the half.

The leading scorer for LMA was William Ard with nine points. Olin Robinson and Caleb Pipken scored eight points each. Robbie Page and Burke Mishoe added seven points each. Buddy Bleasdale dropped in five points. Mark Dinkins and Dusty Dukes finished the game with four points each.

The Swampcats ended their season with a record of 8-2.
