Laura Green “Polly” McAbee

Laura Green “Polly” McAbee, 86, widow of Baxter Jones McAbee, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Lake Marion Nursing Facility in Summerton.

Born Sept. 29, 1925, in Johnson City, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late P.E. Green and the late Lois Sutherland Green. She was a retired secretary for Carrigan Insurance and a member of Summerton Baptist Church.

She is survived by two brothers, Roy E. Green of Greenville and James F. Greene of Panama City, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Betty M. Davidson of Dublin, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Loretta C. McAbee of N. Augusta; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Kent McAbee; and a sister, Wilma Green Horne.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Summerton Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Ashba officiating, assisted by Rev. Brent Hutsell.

Burial will follow at 3 p.m. on Saturday in Republican Baptist Church Cemetery near Edgefield.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.

Pallbearers will be Terry Greene, Chad LaRock, Marshall Floyd, Eddie Floyd, Mark Floyd, Michael Davidson, Kenny Sinkler and Britt Parker.
