Lady Eagles ride high at 6-0

Scott’s Branch High School Girls are 0-6 after three weeks of season play.

Head Coach Ruth Coard said that she has a very young team, with only two returning players, both seniors, Deasia Brown, and Jasmine Murray. Coard said that the 1-A Lady Eagles have faced some tough competition in schools that are all in the 2-A division, including Lakewood, Manning and Crestwood.

They lost at Lakewood in their season opener on Nov. 29.

Tiana James had seven points, Jasmine Murray had six points and Deasia Brown had five points.

On Dec. 3, they faced cross-county rival, Manning High School.

Murray led with 18 points. Nyemia Lawson and Tiana James each had nine.

Scott’s Branch faced Crestwood on Dec. 6.

Murray had six points. Tyciana Baxter had two points, and Lawson and James each had two points.

On Dec. 10, they faced Manning again at home.

Brown had 10 points, Murray had seven points, Lawson had four points, and James had two points.

The Lady Eagles lost again at home to Crestwood on Dec. 13.

On Dec. 16, the Lady Eagles lost at Lakewood.

The Lady Eagles will play at a Christmas tournament on Tuesday, Dec. 27 at Lake Marion High School in Santee. They will face Edisto in the first game at 11:30 a.m.
