Joyce A. Howle

Joyce Ann Revell Howle, 66, of Manning, S.C., went to rest peacefully June 17, 2010, at The Medical University of South Carolina, after a long battle with cancer.

She was born July 18, 1943, in Olanta, the daughter of the late Ben and Elma Revell. She was employed at Horne’s Restaurant for many years, which is where she met the love of her life. She retired after several more years working for the Fitness Forum at Carolina’s Hospital.

She loved living on the water, flowers, spending time with her family and friends and pulling weeds in her flower beds.

She was predeceased by two sons, Allen Patrick Howle and John Franklin Howle, her mother, her father, four brothers and four sisters.

Surviving are her husband Paul Alcorn of the home; daughters Patricia (Don) Balkcum, of Florence, and Joy Lynne (Mike) Smith of Thomasville, Ga.; sister Mary (Joe) Matthews of Florence; brother Olin (Valerie) Revell of Effingham; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and friends; best friends and beloved neighbors June (Keith) Carter and Gail (Ron) Smithwick, both of Manning; and her little dog Sam, whom she loved with all her heart.

A memorial service was held at Elim Bible Church.
