Joyce Elizabeth Davis Carter, 69, formerly of Manning, widow of Cleveland Carter, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston.
Born March 11, 1942, in Savannah, Ga., she was the daughter of the late George Albert Davis and the late Jean Fannin Davis. She was affectionately known as “Granny” and “Aunt Ma”. She formerly attended Deep Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She is survived by two sons, George Carter (Lisa) of Anderson and Mark Carter of Ladson; a daughter, Malynda McLemore (Jason) of Summerville; six grandchildren, Jennifer and Avery Clark, Crystal and Heather Carter, and Katherine and Kylie McLemore; four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Kalub, Aubrey and Braidan; three nieces, Lanee, Tabitha and Tiffany Sturgill; and two nephews, Dale and Tony Clark.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lautishia Clark.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. Jimmy Floyd officiating.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. prior to the memorial service at Stephens Funeral Home.
