Joseph Cooper, 48, husband of Deloris Wilson Cooper died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. He was the son of the late Willie Cooper and Laree Witherspoon Cooper. He was born Sept. 10, 1961, in Gable.
He received his education in Sumter County, graduating from Maywood High School in 1979.
In his youth, he accepted Christ as his Savior and joined Melina Presbyterian Church where he was a faithful member.
He was employed with Palmetto Synethic.
He was one of the original founders of the Bad to the Bone Motorcycle Club.
Survivors are his wife, Deloris Wilson Cooper, of the home; six stepchildren, Albert and Alicia Anderson of Kingstree, Roderick Prince of Sumter, Tiarka Prince of Columbia, Ty’Keyla and Ty’Kayla Harris of Bishopville; sisters, Lillie (Leroy) McFadden of Gable, Jerlene C. Davis, Linda (Shawn) Cooper, Wanda (Dennis) Cooper, all of Sumter, Cynthia (Samuel) Cooper of Camden, Christine (Hardie) Cooper of Temple Hills, Md., and two brothers, Willie Cooper Jr. of Fayetteville, N.C., and Timothy Cooper of Gable.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 15, 2010, at Melina Presbyterian Church in Sardinia with the Rev. Carnell Hampton, pastor, officiating and the Rev. Mary Hagen, Rev. Dr. Herman Gibson, Rev. Jerome McCray and Minister Cleo Jackson, assisting.
Burial was in the churchyard cemetery.
Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
