Jim Wilson “J.W.” Geddings Jr.

Jim Wilson “J.W.” Geddings Jr., 64, husband of Dorothy Mae “Dot” Kirby Ardis, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, in Tuomey Hospital in Sumter.

Born July 20, 1947, in Sumter, he was the son of the late Jim Wilson and Dorothy May Brown Geddings. He was a carpenter, and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife of Sumter are a sister, Henrietta Geddings (Thomas Nichols) of New Jersey; a stepson, William James “Buck” Ardis of Sumter; two step-granddaughters, Jennifer and Caitlin Ardis, both of Sumter; several nieces and nephews; an uncle, Richard Brown of Manning; and special friend, Phil Woodcock (Sabrina) of Sumter.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Felix, Mack and Walter Thomas Geddings; and a sister, Laura Ann Geddings.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning, with the Reverend Dale Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Manning Cemetery in Manning.

Pallbearers will be Phil Woodcock, Keith Hodge, Ryan Reaves, Jerry Croft, Scott Clemmons and Larry Woodcock.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, July 1, at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning, and at other times at the residence, 3185 Beulah Cuttino Road, Sumter.

Stephens Funeral Home & Crematory, 304 N. Church Street, Manning, is in charge of arrangements.
