Herman L. Baird

Mr. Herman L. Baird, age 82, of Turbeville passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, after an illness.

Born in Turbeville, he was a son of the late Raleigh Lorane Baird and Ethel Mae Corbett Baird. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, president of Sharpe Construction Company, Inc. until retirement, a member of Fidelity Masonic Lodge #394, a Shriner and member of Omar Temple, and member of Turbeville Southern Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde Baird Sr., Mark Baird and Cecil Baird.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce Page Baird of Turbeville, two daughters, Lorre Baird (fiancé, Ron Hawley) of Turbeville and Lane Baird of Myrtle Beach, a son, Buck (Suzanne) Baird of Ventura, Calif., two grandchildren, Courtney and Matthew Baird, two stepsons, Charles Merritt (Kathy) Grace IV of Florence and Joseph Page (Amy) Grace of Greenville, a sister, Lila Wingard of Turbeville, a brother, Will (Frances) Baird of Manning.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Turbeville Southern Methodist Church Cemetery, directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta. The family will receive friends immediately after the graveside service in the church sanctuary.
