Harry Eugene Balmer Jr.

Harry Eugene Balmer Jr., 77, widower of Sandra Gael Norris Balmer, died Saturday, June 16, 2012, at his home in Manning.

Born Dec. 8, 1934, in Lancaster, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry Eugene Balmer Sr. and the late Esther Daugherty Balmer. He was a Pennsylvania State University graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture & Forestry and Civil Engineering. He retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, highway safety, in Harrisburg, Pa. and he was a retired U.S. Navy Veteran, having specialized in Naval Intelligence, he was an antique dealer for 25 years and a member of Second Baptist Church of Manning.

He is survived by three daughters, Cynthia “Cindy” Dash and husband Claude of Orangeburg, Christina Kahler and husband Jim of Pasadena, Md. and Kathleen Rehberg and husband Sheldon of Winnemucca, Nev.; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John E. Balmer.

A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2012, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with Rev. Pec Chatham officiating.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at Stephens Funeral Home.
