The first annual Pinewood Gospel Fest will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, June 30 at 440 Reynolds Road in Pinewood.
“It’s something to bring the entire community together,” said Gary Graham, who helped coordinate the event. “We’ve had a great response from singers and with donations.”
The Gospel Fest will raise money for three area youth groups, including the Paxville, Pinewood and Andrews Chapel United Methodist youth group, the St. John’s youth group and the Promiseland Ministries.
Groups that will be performing throughout the evening include James McElveen and the Promiseland Singers, the Sumter County Sheriff’s Gospel Choir, The New Boys, The Believers, the St. John’s Choir, The Palmetto Gospel Singers and there will be an open mic when time is allowed.
No seating will be available at the event, so make sure you pack up your lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the evening.
The Pinewood Gospel Fest is free. The different youth groups will have plenty of food and beverages on sale during the event and a silent cake auction will be held to raise funds for the three different groups.
“The response to the event has been so good that we hope to hold two to three more throughout the year,” Graham added. “ And, please, please make sure everyone knows to bring their own chairs or blankets. We want everyone to have a great time.”
