Gladys Bryant Hodge

Gladys Bryant Hodge, 70, wife of the late J.W. Hodge, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at Tuomey Hospital.

Born Nov. 16, 1941, in Manning, she was the daughter of the late James Homer Bryant and the late Mary Dyson Bryant. She was a homemaker and a member of Home Branch Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Junious Willie “Jay” Hodge Jr. of Manning; a sister, Elizabeth Ridgeway of Sumter; a brother, Dewey Bryant and wife Sarah of Sumter; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Wilbur, James, Miles, Hubert and Lavern Bryant.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Lenderman officiating, assisted by Rev. John Hall. Burial will follow in Cross Roads Bible Fellowship Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenny Bryant, Lee Bryant, Roy Bryant, Ray Ridgeway, Glen Hudson and Ronnie Gainey. Honorary pallbearers will be Homer “Mac” Ridgeway, Dr. Ramon Sy, McDowell Geddings and Wayne Watts.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of her sister, 3050 Hwy. 15 South, Sumter.
