Elwell Gaymon died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at Palmetto Health Baptist, Columbia.
Born in Panola, he was a son of Evangelist Dorothy Bozier Gaymon and the late Deacon Adolphurs Gaymon. As a young man, Elwell was baptized at St. Mark Baptist Church. Later he joined Chapel AME Church. Recently, while residing at Southern Heritage Nursing Facility, he was baptized again at Park Street Church of Christ. His education was obtained in the public schools of Clarendon County. Later he attended Job Corps in Bristol, Tenn., for vocational training.
Survivors include his mother, Evangelist Dorothy Gaymon of Paxville; eight siblings, Oree G. Ragins, Cindy Gaymon and Starlin (Jessie) Gaymon, all of Paxville, Howard Gaymon of Sumter, Rhunette (Keith) Franklin and Lowonderful Pearson, both of Charlotte, N.C., Beverly Ashermore of Greenville and the Rev. Linda (Joseph) Conyers of Silver; one uncle, Heyward (Annie) Mack of Hollywood, Fla.; and one aunt, Ida Gaymon of Panola.
Funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at Chapel AME Church, Paxville, with the Rev. Roberta Montgomery, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Nate Brock, the Rev. J.H. Pringle, the Rev. Mary Hamilton and the Rev. George Gaymon.
Interment will follow in Chapel AME Church cemetery, Paxville.
