Elmore gets nod to lead CMH board

For the first time in the 60-year history of Clarendon Health System, a woman has been selected to lead the Board of Trustees.

Summerton resident Elaine Elmore has been elected to take the helm, following 10 years of service as chair by Manning accountant Don Ellis. Ellis will continue to serve the board of which he as been a member since 1994.

Elmore has been on the Board of Trustees since 2004.

Elmore serves as vice-president and retail sales manager of the First Citizens Bank in Summerton.

She has made Summerton her home for more than 30 years.

“I am excited about the great things happening in Clarendon Health System, and have great expectations about the upcoming expansion,” Elmore said. “I am looking forward to continuing our financial stability and most importantly, the high level of care we provide our citizens.”

Elmore is a member of Summerton Baptist Church and has previously served on the Clarendon Chamber of Commerce board and on the Santee-Lynches Regional Education Committee.

“We are honored to welcome Elaine to the Board’s leadership,” said Clarendon Health System CEO Edward Frye.

“Don Ellis has served with distinction and honor as Chairman of the Board of
Trustees during a period of unprecedented growth and development,” Frye added. “He was named SCHA Board member of the year in 2009. We are grateful for the outstanding
leadership he has provided to Clarendon Health System and the community.

“Elaine Elmore’s strong financial background and commitment to Clarendon Health System will serve us well as she leads us into our new facility and a new era
in health care,” Frye continued.

In addition to Ellis, Elmore joins other Board of Trustee members, Raymond Clark, Dorothy Wilder, Connie Dennis, Ph.D., Tom Campbell, Dr. Beryl Bachus-Keith and Dr. Raymond Dominici.

“The Board of Trustees is actively involved in furthering our mission of providing quality patient care for all our citizens. They take time from their busy schedules to serve with great enthusiasm and effectiveness,” Frye added. “It is my privilege to be associated with them.”
