Four days after falling to the Laurence Manning Academy Lady Swampcats, East Clarendon took care of business in a rematch.
Last Tuesday, the Lady Wolverines traveled to LMA and defeated the Lady Cats 4-0 at Julie Skoler Field.
Kristen McElveen led East Clarendon at the plate going three-for-four and scored a run, Chelsea Byrd and Kaitlyn Alexander each went two-for-four.
Byrd also scored a run along with Sheila Tomlinson and Kristen Godwin.
The Lady Wolverines wasted no time denting the scoreboard in the top of the first inning.
Alexus Watford was walked but was later thrown out at third base to end a potential scoring threat.
However, Byrd and McElveen each had a hit that put the go-ahead scorer on second base.
Tomlinson was walked to load the bases and Leslie Altman came up and hit a single scoring Byrd for a 1-0 ECHS lead.
Godwin came up and was walked and that walked in another run for the Lady Wolverines and increased their lead to 2-0.
The game became a pitcher’s duel for the next five innings as each team rarely saw the bases but stiff pitching and defense erased multiple threats.
It was not until the seventh inning that East Clarendon began to pull away.
Alexander came up and drilled a two RBI double to deep left center field scoring Tomlinson and Godwin stretching the Lady Wolverines’ lead to 4-0.
Grayson Smith came up but her pop fly was caught to end the inning.
LMA had a final chance to score in the bottom of the inning.
Kathryn Windham got a base hit to open the inning and then stole second base.
Tessa Sanford struck out for the first out of the inning and Grace Beatson hit a sacrifice bunt to move Windham to third base and she was later picked off from third for the final out sealing the victory for East Clarendon.
